Hiking Las Alpujarras, favorite trip so far...

The most beautiful place I have been in Spain.  My program brought us on a day hike in Las Alpujarras.  We hiked in the mountains from one village to the next.  The villages were home to many Arabs that fled the city of Granada when the Catholic Monarchs took control.

Most of the land here was terraced to it could be used.

Working the land

Our fantastic guide

The trail crossed a creek and got a little muddy

The secret garden.  A lot of love goes into the little cottage.

Happy hikers :)

This sign has the words right side up and upside down.
??? Incase we are standing on our hands?

Our hiking group below.

And the trek up begins...

Reminds me a bit of Alaska

Looking back to the first village

Man in the village sorting through beans maybe?

Follow this trail and you will find yourself in Athens Greece

Ruins of a home

The CUTEST puppy ever.  He was hanging out with us in the village

The trail to Greece again,  we were having a blast with the hiking we wondered how far we could make it along the trail in our 3 hour break in the last village.  I would love to come back someday and hike part of this trail again.

I wanted to buy one of these little outfits for Kyla but then I decided Britta may not let her wear it... haha Britta, just wait until I babysit her she will wear the greatest outfits ever!
