Paris a beautiful city, if you can afford to stay above ground. I had a fantastic time in Paris, but I found it rather expensive and slightly dirty. I suppose any large city is rather difficult to keep clean, but the Paris metro was quite filthy. It probably also did not help that we went during their winter so we had to use our imagination on the gardens and fountains. The food however, was awesome! What a fabulous change from eating ham daily! Crepes everyday, Yumm.

Inside the pyramid that acts as the Louve's main entrance! |
On our first day we hit the Louve, Notre Dame, the Bridge of Locks, the Eiffel Tower, and checked out the Moulin Rouge! So little time we had to do it all so our days were packed with exploring. The Louve made the whole trip worth it for me. I really appreciate Greek and Roman mythology and the Louve had some excellent pieces that cannot be seen anywhere else! In the following days we made it to 2 more museums, the SacreCour, Arc de Triomphe, Palace of Versailles, and explored the Latin quarter! Definitely a successful trip!

The sphinx |
Nike, the winged Greek goddess of victory. This was my favorite statue in the Louve. She is headless and armless yet her presence is not diminished. Here she stands atop a boat's prow. Her presence was normally thought to ensure victory in battle and protect seafarers from shipwreck.
Was that large painting "The Coronation of Napoleon"? (I'm not sure if that is the full title or not)
